POC (Proof of Concept)

A Proof of Concept (POC) is a small-scale test or demonstration that validates whether a proposed idea, technology, or approach is feasible. Unlike an MVP, which tests market demand, a POC tests technical viability. Can this technology actually work? Can we build what we are promising?

POCs are particularly important for startups working with novel technology, complex integrations, or regulated industries. They reduce technical risk before committing significant resources. In enterprise sales, POCs are also used to prove that a product can work within a specific customer's environment.

A POC should have clear success criteria defined upfront: performance benchmarks, accuracy thresholds, or integration requirements. Without clear criteria, POCs can become extended, unfocused projects that consume resources without producing actionable conclusions.
